Manchester United are hopeful they can agree a deal for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti before the World Cup, according to Sport.
Jose Mourinho is eager to strengthen his defence at Old Trafford and sees the France international as the ideal addition after Victor Lindelof failed to live up to expectations.
The Red Devils were offered hope in their pursuit of Umtiti last week as Barca club president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed the club would not break the bank to keep the defender .
